Instructions given are a bit outdated.

As soon as you slide unlock your HTC Desire, it'll present a number pad where you are supposed to enter the unlock code. click OK to finish.

I purchased My HTC Tilt 2 from AT and T. They refused to give me the unlock code. I mailed the phone to my wife in the Philippines and if not for you she would have to use third rate equipment.
